Our First Gathering Tonight!!

Hey, everybody!  Our first gathering is tonight 05-02-13 at 6:45 PM and I am so excited to see you all!  I really feel like this is the beginning of something great happening in our neighborhood.  Okay, so I know this may be really nerdy of me, but I love this quote from the movie “The Hobbit” and it really captures my heart for our gatherings, so here it is:
“Saruman believes it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love. Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps because I am afraid, and he gives me courage."
I really loved that quote because it recognized that we are all struggling through this thing called life, and that we all face dark times, and that together we are stronger, even in our weaknesses.  It recognizes that superpowers may be as simple as listening and loving.  It is my desire that when we come together as a community, that no one should ever feel lonely, or run down, or give up hope because they have no one else to lean on.
Tonight is a night to hang out and get to know each other a little better, and my hopes are to also start some kind of monthly Bible study, or book club, or small group of some sort.  But between the meetings, I want for us all to be connected and to know that we are here to support each other, and that is the ultimate goal.  Please please please, even if you can't come to the monthly meetings, let me know if you have a need (material needs or prayer needs), from as little as needing to borrow some sour cream, to as big as needing support through some great trial you face, and I know that when we all come together, those needs will be met.  We are stronger together!!
I can’t wait to see you tonight!!!
